It’s a question most new website owners ask. There’s a lot of speculation about the Google “sandbox effect” however, there’s been no confirmation from Google that such a thing actually exists.
I can say that I see the effect of it, or of “something” whether it exists purposely or not. For sites newly optimized, I usually see a pattern like this:
- gets ranked in MSN – 2-3 months
- gets ranked in Yahoo – 4-6 months
- gets ranked in Google – 8-12 months
It’s a pattern I’ve seen repeated over and over.
What can you do about it? Start off with some Pay-Per-Click campaigns to get some instant visibility for your keywords (this will also give you a chance to analyze which keywords bring you the best return on your investment in terms of leads and conversions).
Make sure you get links to your site from local and niche business directories and other places on the ‘net that are relevant to your business.
And then, Be Patient.
