Google's New Algorithm
What is it and why should you care?

Summary:
Google is, in my opinion, the best search engine going. Finding what you want on Google is getting easier. However, the game of making sure your page gets a good ranking has changed.

Google has always considered Page Rank important. Page Rank (also known as Link Popularity) is calculated by how many sites link to your site and how many sites your site links to. The more links the more "important and relevant" your site is considered.

Google has added a new element to it's search algorithm. It's called Local Score. Local Score makes it more important than ever to have expert links to your site from other sites. What are expert links? Links from associations, organizations and educational institutions; links from sites that have lots of other links.

Other elements that are still and always important to good rankings are: targeted keyphrases, relevant content, descriptive page titles, meta-tags, headlines, alt-tags and links.

For additional information about search engine optimization and more, give me a call or drop me an email.

Joanne
